What is the Bboy Summit?

The Bboy Summit continues to be the major trendsetter in Bboy and Bgirl Hip-Hop culture. Established in 1994, the Summit sprang forth-innovative ideas in Hip-Hop culture, offering a conference forum complete with competitions, performances, panels, and workshops, marketplace for new consumer friendly products market towards the Hip-Hop lifestyle. Never content with our success, Bboy Summit's Battle of the Sexes Super Jam slams the globe with five super events in one, Battle of the Sexes (BOSS) Country vs. Country Battle, the Octagon, Funk Styles, Ken Swift's Rockin Convention and The Day Before Hip-Hop; The Bay Area's Story. The merging of these reigning forces will unveil new, dynamic concepts in the dance, art and music of Hip-Hop influenced hybrid lifestyle culture.

The Bboy Summit was created in 1994 due to a need for a community orientated Hip-Hop Event that encompassed knowledge of the history of Hip-Hop Culture with the skills of Bboying and Bgirling (breaking or breakdancing). At that point in time, we, as Bboys and Bgirls did not have our own platform in which to come together, dance and pay homage to the traditional dance of Hip-Hop, Bboying. Each year the event expanded to encompass Bboys, Bgirls, MCs, Aerosol Artists, and Djs from around the world, steady building into what has now become the foremost Hip-Hop cultural event in the world. Equally, the Summit is proud to be considered the most important event for Lockers and Poppers to journey too to take part in our annual Funk Fest at the Bboy Summit. The impact the Bboy Summit Event has had globally is insurmountable. Most importantly contributing the transmission of Bboy Bgirl style of dance to the new generation Without an understanding of the roots and culture of Hip-Hop, the youth of today would not be able to expand on it, further developing the styles into futuristic trends of tomorrow.

Now in our 11th year the Bboy Summit has grown into an internationally acclaimed 4 day festival incorporating all aspects of Hip-Hop in different plateaus, from the rawest battle circle, to the most prestigious theatre performance, infamous Dj/Mc Talent showcase, and live aerosol art painting Each element of Hip-Hop combining together to make the cipher complete.

Asia one is one of the most renowned activists in the urban culture - known not only for her personal B-girl style but also for her ambassador style leadership of leading the urban culture into innovative new business arenas.

Her journey began in 1991 when Asia opened Denver's first Hip Hop show and workspace known as "La Casa del Fonk." Fueled by a love for Hip-Hop, and an active interest in Graffiti art, Asia strived to bring the inner cities youth, riddled by gang violence, together to learn about Hip-Hop from a cultural perspective. This innovative spot utilized the talents of youth to create and market clothing, music and art, and also served as a center to practice the skills of Hip-Hop, b-boying/ b-girling, graffiti art, deejaying and emceeing.

The Birth of The B-Boy Summit

A desire to further her endeavors and take her efforts to a larger, more prominent market, led her to Los Angeles. It was in this time period in which she began training with world famous Rock Steady Crew and cultivating her own Bgirl skills. Naturally, Asia began networking within the community of Hip-Hop to hold events and showcases, and was the creator of the annual, Bboy Summit, now over 13 years strong. What started off as a free event strictly for Bboys and Bgirls, to pay homage to the original Hip-Hop dance form of B-boying, is now an annual 4 day international conference incorporating all the elements of Bboy and Bgirl dance including battles, and various levels of dance competition in addition to educational panels, theatrical performance, DJ/MC talent showcases, Graff Expo, and Hip-Hop Marketplace. Sponsored by Red Bull, Tylenol, Ecko, Amped Mobile, Tommy Boy Records, Workmen's Outlet to name a few, the B-boy Summit continues to be one of the most respected hip hop/urban events in the world.

The Move Into Content Creation & Production

Content creation and development was a natural transition from her live events and began phase two of her long-term plan to further the art-form/sport of Bboy and Bgirl dance as well as hip hop education and exposure. She formed No Easy Props Productions in 1997 to produce and distribute dance DVDs, CDs, and wearables as well as to mark her world famous Bboy Summit and related events such as B Supreme Women in Hip-Hop Event (UK) and No Easy Props Europe a full service production company that co-produces dance tours, workshops and events.

Her Personal B-girl Journey

Asia One is known worldwide as a Bgirl icon and performer - she is a world-wide consultant on the Hip-Hop lifestyle and travels the world regularly not only performing, but speaking or consulting with various other world ambassadors of dance on the future evolution of the dance and the culture. Bgirlism is her motto and lifestyle philosophy.

She just completed a 2-year contract as a spokesperson for Tylenol and a team "Ouch" rider of the Ouch! campaign (winner of the 2006 Effie Award), and currently is a spokesperson for IamHipHop.com. She was portrayed in the Rachel Ramist documentary on women in Hip-Hop entitled "Nobody Knows My Name", was a featured artist in "The Freshest Kids" Bboy documentary, and was a commentator and coordinator of MGM's "The Breakin" DVD Collection". Additionally, she was featured in the PowerHouse book entitled We B*Girlz, and the Inner Ocean book entitled "We Got Issues", and the Vibes "Hip-Hop Divas" book, as well as a guest performer on the Jenny Jones show. Asia recently made a special guest appearance on the Flava Flave "Flava of Love Show" season 2 to show Flave's girls some Bgirl style.

Expanding Her Horizons

Currently Asia One is a partner and leading creative executive for the Juice Nation project - determined to once again break barriers and further the urban dance culture to yet another level. In addition to developing a network television series, pre-production on the 2007 Bboy Summit and development of the Juice Nation web network, comic strip and animated series, she continues to coordinate and run an after school program for elementary kids called Hip-Hop 101. Perhaps the most inspiring goal is her current plan to call together the world leaders/ambassadors to a One World meeting in order to unite world-wide efforts, events and awareness of the Bboy/Bgirl lifestyle. She continues this, and all of her efforts, in order to fulfill her dream to be "that girl" who is the visionary that builds an empowered, self-sufficient, financially prosperous, holistic Hip-Hop Community that affects positive change in the world.
