Thank you to all of our Bboy Summit supporters, party rockas, and soul shockas!
It added to the vibe, and the cache of the event! I hope all of you enjoyed
it! Was a crazy weekend!
Friday Pre-party was really dope over at Freak City; it was like the set of Beat Street inside. Really bugged! The wall outside turned out dope, thanks to Cre8 (RTN), Rock Angels: Sano, Mark 7, Keo, Wram, Serve, and Demer and, the Dance panel made history with Legend, Frankie D (Soul Brothers), Easy Rock (RSC), Teknyc (Skill Methodz), Deuce (Krump Kings), Brother (Scheme Team), Chameleon (Scheme Team), Marie Popins, Rokafella (Full Circle), Ness (MZK), Soultrotter, Loose Caboose and Trock. We had legends from all styles of Hip-Hop Dance. We parlayed inside for the annual Summit Footwork Battle, with Bboys/Bgirls globetrotting for the gold! Shadoe (RSC) took that win home! Shout
To DJs: Frankie Flave and Ervin for keeping the beats fresh n easy. Good eats
Provided by Dante's Fried Chicken.
Saturday was entirely different; we set it off in Pershing Square, downtown LA with
The Block Party! Deejays: Rod, Abel, Mark Luv, Casey Macem and J Sonic it was on some commUnity vibe, different crowd altogether!
We had a great panel on using Hip-Hop as a vehicle to effect social change,
with members of different Hip-Hop organizations taking part.
It was pretty exhilarating!
The DJ/MC talent showcase was fresh, the Rej3ctz and Percee P blew it up pretty hard, Mellow Man Ace repped, as did Kamikazee!
During each "block" of music, we had a different member of the dance
commUnity come and teach a demo/workshop, Brother did a house demo
workshop spun by Larry Laza, Alfie did a Hip-Hop one spun by Mark Luv, and Plik Plok did a strutting one spun by Rod, Nasty Ray
did a Bboy one spun by Renato.. Man it was dope to see all the young folks learning.. soaking it up! Whew! My favorite moment was battling the X-Mob kids into MZK and everybody loaded up off my new all natural energy tea instant Jump Street!
IF you were there, you saw and felt how it went down on Sunday!! It was the battle and performance day! Def got it all in there! Took em to church! We set it off with She Got Game (Australia) with a dynamic Bgirl Panel, and straight into the 2vs2 battles. The competition was fierce! I had my $ on Bonita and Feenix or Loose Ill and Ill Boogie but when I saw the silver bullet that was Eri and her partner Yama P, The Twisted Sisters (Japan), I knew it was on! Def some hot contenders, a very high level showcase of competitors for all the battles throughout the weekend! Popping beef brought that gangsta element out of all the Funk Styles Competitors! New editions this year are Waacking and House! After the MZK 1st ever Color Warz Battle with Battle Born and Renegades the final 2.. We presented the Bboy Summit Theatre Experience with Syrenz, X-Mob, Midnight, H.E.R., Boogie Frantic, and Jungle Jills as the top highlights. Finished it off with the Finals, and awards ceremony, gave grace! Lots of OG's in the house, as Summit tradition has it, Jazzy Jay and J Rock had squared off against Slick Dogg and protégée Tempo, Slim the Robot, Toni Basil, Lollipop, Animation, OG Skeeter Rabbit, and LA Bopin Dre were all in da house! Great music spun by Ervin, Renato, DJane, Kaistar, Larry Laza and Rod. Had some really good feedback about the entire event. Overall the event was a success! Please check out the all-new Summit site and leave your favorite Summit memory/experience!
